Next Step Trimming is accepting new clients.
Shelley Walker provides movement-focused barefoot hoof care designed to support long-term soundness. Each trim is tailored to the individual horse, considering conformation, posture, overall health, workload, management practices, footing, and equipment — because healthy hooves don’t function in isolation. Using detailed assessment, precision trimming techniques, and appropriate tools and technology, Shelley approaches every horse with patience, careful observation, and a whole-horse perspective. CREDENTIALS
Example Of My Work: This trim reflects a long-term, horse-specific approach rather than a one-size-fits-all method. The goal is a broad, stable base of support, a well-managed toe to reduce leverage, and functional heels placed under the limb to support comfortable, efficient movement. Footing, turnout, and workload are all considered so the horse can move confidently. Consistent trimming, a good diet, regular turnout, and exercise, made it easy to maintain this horse's healthy feet.
At Next Step Trimming™, hoof care is never approached in isolation. Every horse is assessed as a whole—considering hoof balance, posture, movement, nutrition, and management—because lasting soundness depends on how all of these systems work together. My goal is to build a realistic, thoughtful plan that supports comfort and long-term health." |

I do my best work when horses stay on a consistent trim cycle (typically every 4–5 weeks). Regular appointments support healthy hoof development and help keep your horse comfortable and sound. Because I schedule by geographic routes, staying on the cycle also helps me return to each area reliably. Weather and unsafe travel can occasionally require changes, and I’ll always work to reschedule you as soon as possible.
Healthy hooves don’t exist in isolation—they reflect the health of the entire horse.

I do my best to educate owners so they understand how factors beyond the hoof—such as environment, movement, and management—contribute to soundness and well being. |
Client Testimonials:

Kirk Underschultz (Facebook) recommends Next Step Trimming “I am often asked to evaluate non-client horses from all over the United States and Canada for a wide variety of reasons. Depressingly often, how the horse has been trimmed and/or shod is the root cause of the problem. I was recently asked to evaluate one of Shelley’s horses. After viewing the many photographs, my opening comments to owner were, ‘You do not have a hoof problem. You have an excellent farrier!’. I don’t know Shelley, I am in Ohio and she is in New York, but I am very impressed with her work. Shelley, thanks for making our profession look good!”
Shelley Belluccio Walker (reply): “Hello, Kirk!!! Wow! Thank you so much for taking the time to write such kind words! I appreciate your professional opinion! This inspires me to continue my efforts to educate myself and provide my customers with the best care possible!
