Take the Next Step! Help Your Horse Develop a Healthier Hoof.
Hello, my name is Shelley Walker, owner of Next Step Trimming. I have an Animal Science degree from Cornell University and MS in Science Education from St. John Fisher College. I have worked with horses as an equine hoof care specialist for many years. My goals are to develop and maintain healthy, sound hooves. I take a multidimensional approach to improving hoof health. This includes studying trimming methodologies, whole horse anatomy, factors that affect posture, lameness, biomechanics of movement, equine nutrition, dentistry, management, and talking to veterinarians and other equine bodyworkers. Of course, there is no magic bullet. Trimming alone will not fix the horse. That is why I am looking for serious clients committed to doing what it takes to truly improve their horse's overall health. It takes a village, and I am willing to be a part of the team, working with vets and other equine health care professionals. Helping you look at diet, environment, exercise, and your horse's hooves! Education Portfolio
Services: Hoof Trimming, Hoof Boots Fitting, Composite Glue-on Shoes/Boots, Hay Analysis & Diet Counseling, and Moblie Store Catalog.

Shelley you are a best kept secret! I never thought I would be able to ride my horse again. I can't thank you enough.
Maggie W. Writes:
Had Shelley in to do my horses for the first time last wk. She was just what i was looking for for my flighty horse who can give issues...she was patient and connected with the horse instead of forcing the horse. Have already set up my next appt for November here in the Dansville area. Would highly recommend:)
Mary K.
Shelley is so wonderful. She explains everything and has helped my pony become sound. I am so glad that I found her!
Megan M. Writes:
Next Step delivers kind, strong and confident hoof assessment and adjustment, with the horse's welfare in mind, not the owner's wallet. Highly recommend. Very happy with my horses' results.
Jean S:
Each morning I am still amazed at how well Comet is doing. The way you have trimmed his hoofs up has made a huge difference in this pony's life. He is happy, no still walking, no lameness of any kind, no tender feet. Believe me when I tell you this is the first time in many years that I haven't had to put boots on him to ease his pain. He is playing more, running more and just plain feeling good. Thank you so much. Your skills have changed this pony's everyday life.
Shirley H. Writes:
I was very pleased with the quality of Shelley's work. She returned my call in a timely fashion and set up a convenient date right away. She was on time, did an excellent job on my horses feet, and very professionally explained things as she went along. Her price was comparable to the others that I have used, but I thought it a great value considering the time and effort she put into the work she did. She will be my farrier from now on.
Lori H. Writes:
